| Fusible Care
Fusible Lining — Fusible linings, when cared for in the proper fashion, will offer you a crisp appearance all day long. Where fusibles fail is due to excessive shrinkage caused by improper commercial laundering. All custom shirts , if properly cared for, will perform to the high standards in which they were manufactured. When taken to a commercial laundry, you should let your dry cleaner know that these are custom shirts and to care for them strictly as the care label implies.
The most important aspect of custom shirt care is to make sure the shirt is tumble dried and not spin dried. Spin drying leaves a very high moisture content in the garment and in order to press the shirt the commercial laundry must apply high heat in excess of 275 degrees. Many laundries press from 325-375 degrees, far above the established parameters of proper shirting care. This combination of high heat and high moisture content is what cases excessive shrinkage in fusible linings.
When the garment is tumble dried, a moderate pressing heat is all that is necessary to smooth the collar and cuffs as now the pressing is not being used as the drying process.
If the commercial laundries in your area are not able to conform to the proper care procedures described above, then we recommend the Non-Fused linings. Care should be taken on Non-Fused custom shirts so as not to press in wrinkles due to poor handling. Should this happen, a quick touch-up with a hand iron may be necessary.
