| Tips for Your Wedding Day
Alan David Custom Suits wants you to look great on your special day. This means not only creating unforgettable and great fitting formalwear, but also making sure that your custom garment is in top shape on the day you need to wear it. Unsurprisingly, many of our clients ask us how to best maintain their custom suit or custom tuxedo before their wedding day. To answer these questions, below are some special Alan David pointers on how to prepare your clothing before the big day.
- Bring extras. An extra shirt and an extra pair of socks will do you well. When someone finally spills that glass of wine, or when your clothing gets sweaty and wrinkly on the dance floor, you have a fresh piece of clothing to change into. Remember, the pictures are forever, you want to look your best throughout the day. Even if it's just for peace of mind, it is one less thing to worry about.
- Bring two ties. Many grooms decide to wear different ties for the ceremony and the reception. You can very easily wear a white or off-white tie that matches the bride and bridesmaids for the ceremony, then switch to a black tie for the after party. Simple, but it’s a nice and very elegant touch.
- Do not wear brand new shoes you’ve never worn before to the ceremony and reception. You’ll be on your feet for a good part of the day, marching down the aisle and dancing at the reception. Wear shoes that have been broken in. The last thing you want is to be distracted with foot pain and irritation.
- Regardless of whether you have a custom suit or a custom tuxedo , make sure your garment has a functioning flower hole. The flower hole is a small opening in the lapel where you can insert flowers without fastening them with a pin, and it makes for a cleaner look.
- The night before the wedding, take your custom garment out of its plastic garment bag and let it hang freely. Otherwise, the suit might wear a bit stiffly the following day. The wool needs to “breathe” and keeping it in a garment bag or plastic might make it damp, creased or just unkempt looking.
- If possible, change into your custom suit or tuxedo at the wedding hall. This will minimize creasing and have your suit looking as neat as possible for the big day
- Don’t forget your cufflinks and your studs! They’re the smallest clothing accessories you have, but they make all the difference.
And our last bit of advice: have a blast, and let us know about it.
