    ACHIEVE THE PERFECT FIT

Nothing less than a perfect fit will do. Should you take away just one piece of information from this website let it be the relentless dedication to creating the perfect fitting wedding suit or custom tuxedo. 91 years has gone into the fitting process. At Alan David you can be assured an experienced tailor will be taking your measurements. Your wedding day is too important to trust to an inexperienced fitter.

The Custom Wedding Suit Process at Alan David Custom

The experience begins with a visit to our Midtown Manhattan showroom. One of our experienced custom wedding suits sales associates will help guide you through every step of the fitting and fabric selection process. Then, once our custom suits fitters (who understands the key differences in fit and function between a custom wedding suit and a regular custom suit) has met with you and measurements have been taken, it is time to select the fabrics that most appeal to you. We are very pleased to present a selection of the finest fabrics available, sourced from the world’s very best luxury mills including Scabal, Dormeuil, Ermenegildo Zegna and Loro Piana.

At this stage, to best ensure a perfect custom fit, we offer a feature that is especially significant to our wedding clientele. It is, in fact, the most important element of a true custom garment – the basted fitting. This is the step that sets Alan David Custom suits for weddings apart from the rest.

The basted fitting occurs once the fabric you have selected has been hand cut and temporarily stitched together with white thread. When you try the garment on at this point you have the opportunity to judge its look and fit. The fact that your wedding suit is only ‘basted’ allows it to be changed to any extent you like. For example, you may want to narrow or widen the shoulders and lapels, make the garment tighter or looser in the chest, the sleeves or even the thighs and shorten or lengthen the hemline.

  • PRICING & TURNAROUND

At Alan David we are very proud of our short turnaround times. While we have a 2 week rush service and even a 7 day emergency rush service we prefer to have three to four weeks to construct your formal garment.

What Matters Most in a Custom Wedding Suit

    Details that Make a Difference

After the basted-fitting, changes are noted and your garment is returned to our factory where your custom suit is completed. The fact that we own our own local workshop makes it possible for us to provide an altogether unique level of attention to each garment we produce.

No tailored clothing we create is ever outsourced. Everything is made in our New York facility. Owning our factory also makes it possible for us to control the cost and maintain a very competitive level of value pricing. Even with our rigorous dedication to quality and service, the price of an Alan David Custom garment remains a truly exceptional value.
